Who are the Camdens?

The title of our blog is really one of those "inside family jokes." Well, since you've asked (OK, no one really asked, but I was looking for something to blog about and decided on this). But ever since Melissa and I have been married (and even before then) we were both fans of the TV show- 7th Heaven.

And fairly often, probably every three episodes or so, something would happen in that show that would parallel our lives. We began saying to each other- "Our life is like the Camdens!"

For instance, the Camdens have the same Denby china that we did (we lost ours in Katrina). Also, of course the obvious one, Eric is a minister and so is Jason. The Camdens were surprised with twins, and so are we. Now at least our twins are coming after just one child, not five! And Chloe is very reminiscent of a young Ruthie! We're praying that she becomes more like Lucy!!

Aagh! I'm sick!

And not only me, but my whole family- Melissa and Chloe included. The only on that is well is Holi (the dog). We all have the flu and let me tell you I will be the first in line to get the flu shot next year! This stuff is not fun!!

It's been a while since I wrote last so I thought I would give you some updates as to everything that's going on. Both Kennedy and Katelyn are doing great. At the last sonogram (a week ago today) Kennedy weighed 1 lb, 10 oz and Katelyn was 1 lb. 8 oz. Both right where they need to me. Melissa is measuring 34 weeks (although she is only 25!) and is starting to feel somewhat uncomfortable but I'm sure the worst is yet to come.

In my previous post I had said I'd vote for John Rousanville for Congress. Well, I changed my mind and voted for Greg Harper who is in the runoff against Charlie Ross. I really don't think either one of these guys is a bad choice.

And isn't it fun to watch the democrats tear each other apart!! Keep it up Hill and Obama!

A Class Act

Tomorrow is Mississippi's Primary- a race I don't really get to vote in. Well, at least for President this go around anyway. Followers of this blog know that I have been a vocal supporter of Mike Huckabee since the very beginning. Unfortunately, its not his time this go around. And no, I can not go into the voting booth and vote for Hillary just to keep the democratic party furor going until their convention. They're doing a good enough job of that on their own.

Of course, I am now adamantly and whole heartedly supporting John McCain. You might not agree with every one of his positions- when have you ever found someone you agree with 100% of the time besides yourself?- but I do believe he will keep our country safe, take us in a positive economic direction, and uphold the values and traditions of our country, our religion, and the Republican party.

For those of us in the 3rd Congressional District in Mississippi that are Republicans, we do have a major vote to cast in that primary. My vote will go for . . . John Rounsaville. I encourage you to support him as well.

I've said that this blog would also be about technology and all things Mac, and with very limited exception, I've really yet to post anything on here about that. Well, get ready, as we prepare to take a brief break from the political realm, I need something new to rant about. :)

BTW, click here to read Mike's letter about his departure- he is truly a class act. And my "dream ticket" for 2016 (Yes, of course McCain will win in 08 and re-election in 2012 :) Mike Huckabee and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal! The south will rise again!! LOL

The Latest

Sitting here at DFW (man this place is huge, and very cold outside!) waiting for my flight to come back to Mississippi. I've been at the Creative Pastors Conference at Fellowship Church the last couple of days and was really challenged and lifted in my walk and my ministry. It was the absolute best I've ever been to, but I did walk away with a lot.

Melissa and the twins are doing great. So is Chloe. We're going to the doctor about every couple of weeks.

I believe Tuesday is due or die for Huckabee. I don't think he will pull it out . . . but you never know!

So Proud to be a Nole!

Florida State has acted and put itself on probation for the cheating scandal that erupted this past fall. They have made sweeping changes across their athletic departments and taken this cheating scandal very seriously.

I have been a Seminole fan since the early 90s. Never have I been prouder of them for the stance they are making. They have not been told to do this by the NCAA, ACC, or anybody else. They had a problem, they took action, and now they are moving forward. That is how every college should respond to the balance of academics and athletics.

Go Florida State!

Baby Update- MAJOR NEWS!!

We visited the high risk specialist in Jackson yesterday. And it's now official . . . drumroll please . . . it is identical twin girls!! :) We've had about a week to recover from not having a boy and we are all (including Chloe) now doing good with it. Both babies are "perfect pictures of health" and everything is now looking great. The placenta has moved up. Melissa is still on a travel and rest restriction, but she is feeling fine.

It is also definite that they will not let Melissa go past the 38th week. In the doctor's words- "you definitely won't be pregnant after the morning of June 23rd."

And yes, we have names, although spellings are not definite at this point- Kennedy Jean and Katelyn Lynn.

Keep us in your prayers.

PS- I have informed Melissa, and received her approval :), that I am getting a big, male dog! Although I originally wanted a German Shepherd, I have now decided on an English Bulldog! Woof!! You don't get much more male than that!

Romney's Flip-flops on Abortion

Change of heart?! Only when it is politically expedient. Mitt Romney is like the weather in the south- if you don't like what he's saying . . . just wait a little while! :) And this is who Dr. Dobson is voting for?

The price is wrong, Bob!

So what does a paraphrase from Happy Gilmore have to do with anything related to Super Tuesday? Well, for the past week and half (really almost the entire presidential political season in regards to Huckabee) we have been barraged by comments from Rush, Hannity, and now Dobson, on how McCain and Huckabee are too liberal to be elected or how they are not electable. Well, as the results are coming in tonight, it looks like the pundits were wrong!

I have to take big issues with Dr. Dobson- a man who I truly respect in family and religious matters. However, there have been many times when he could have made a great stand in regards to this election and he has not. Everything that Dr. Dobson has said he is looking for in a candidate (pro-life, pro-marriage, Christian, etc.) is strongly evident in Mike Huckabee and time and time again he has not supported him. He (Dobson) talks about McCain sticking his thumb in the eye of the Republican party . . . well, in my humble opinion, Dr. Dobson has stuck his thumb in the eye of Christians by not offering his support to the candidate who fits exactly what he is looking for! Why Dr. Dobson would not support Huckabee I do not know. Early conventional wisdom among many of the evangelical right wing conservative leaders is that they would not support Huckabee because they believed he could not win. Yea! You guys really got that one right!!

Also, Dr. Dobson said today that if McCain was elected (as the Republican nominee) he would not vote!! I'm sorry, but if you don't vote in the election, then you need to shut up! If you choose not to vote because a candidate does not meet every thing you want (and no, Huckabee doesn't meet every criteria I have either) then you have no stance to complain when Hillary or Barak is elected in November. And if Republicans do not come together to support the nominee- whoever that is, then that is exactly what will happen.

And here's something else to remember that I was reminded of in my devotion time this morning- OUR GOD REIGNS!! Therefore, no matter who wins, God is still in control! Why should we worry?!

PS- I am looking for some video of Huckabee's speech tonight to post and will as soon as I find it. I am also looking for a sound bite from Rick Burgess of The Rick and Bubba Show who gave an excellent quote as to why it is so important to look at the "what" that drives a candidate. I don't want to misquote him, so I won't say it until I can post it, but Rick's comments this morning were, in my opinion, a lot more Biblically centered than the rhetoric that Dr. Dobson issued this afternoon via the Laura Ingraham show. So yes, there is more to come!
