We are back in the pic takin' business!
As you can see from the NEW above slideshow, we finally have a new camera and some new pics. Yes, the girls are constantly growing and had their 9 month check-up this past Tuesday. (They were 9 months old on March 16.) They are both doing excellent and believe it or not they weighed exactly the same!!
Chloe' is growing as well and is getting ready to start acting, modeling, and art lessons. If she has her way, you will see her on your tv in no time! LOL!
Continue to pray for the sell of our house. Both grandmothers are coming soon (Melissa's mom & sister are set to visit for a week the end of this month & Jason's mom is coming for a week at Easter) so you know that will bring lots of more pictures.
I am thoroughly enjoying serving with the Fire Department and have responded on several calls. Melissa is back rockin' and rollin' with her BeautiControl and is making lots of new contacts. South Georgia seems to be a wide open area for BeautiControl.
Church is continuing to go great. Jason will preach on Sunday, March 29- the same day we kick off our new youth service called xp3. xp3 will launch that night.

Wow I'm Tired!
This week, this month, OK, this whole year has been exhausting. Just when it seems we are about to get a break, something else pops onto the calendar.
Not to say that any of these things have been bad, on the contrary, they've all been very good. But I am ready for a few days of R & R.
I responded to my first major fire this past week. A 10-70 structure fire. A trailer was fully engulfed when we arrived on scene. It was a total loss. Please pray for Cassandra as she is trying to piece her life back together after this terrible event.
Melissa and I know what it is to loose all the "stuff" you have (Hurricane Katrina). However, we also know what it is for God to restore even more than you had before and take care of you every step of the way. Pray that Cassandra will see God's hand in this.
We were toned out (a term firefighters use when the alarm goes out because it is a fast high pitched tone) about 2:20 pm on Wednesday and returned to the station about 6:15 pm. Yes, it took a while, and yes, it was on a Wednesday afternoon which is probably my busiest day of the week.
Things at Ray City First Baptist are going great. Once again, busy, but great. We are beginning to get the teams in place that will start making some preliminary plans for our rec facilities on the new property. In fact, we have a big conference in Jonesboro (Georgia that is, NOT Louisiana, ha!) at the end of this month on rec facilities and growth. Also at the end of the month we will launch our new youth service- xp3 and xp3 Live!
The girls are all doing fine. We are now finally over everyone being sick. Chloe had a check-up last week and is looking great and the girls go on St. Patty's Day for there 9 month check-up. Yes, they are almost that old already!
Kaitlyn has started pulling up and crawling all over the place. Kennedy will crawl a little bit, but she's more the talker. They have both said dada, mama, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I'm sure makes sense to them.
Where are the pictures I hear you screaming at me!? :) Unfortunately, our digital camera stopped working shortly before we left to come to Georgia. However, I am hoping to purchase one in the next couple of days. When we do- pics & videos are coming rapidly!
Well, I better run. Melissa just sent a txt msg to start some chicken nuggets for lunch. She just picked up Chloe from school and she is ready to eat!
Like I said, it doesn't stop!

First Call
Just got back from responding to my first "tone"- a 10-70 grass fire with structure nearby. It took us longer to write the report and roll up the hose than put out the fire, but it was fun! It's been a while since I've run code (lights and siren) in a vehicle and yes, I enjoyed it. The main satisfaction though is knowing that we (myself and our fire chief- Bob Mikell) were able to help someone in their time of need. Hmm, being a fire fighter and a pastor have a lot in common!

Finally, some time to write
OK, my goal of posting a new entry every Monday is not working out too well . . . but if you only knew our schedule lately.
Church has been hectic, GREAT but hectic. Things are starting to slow down some now and I am catching my breath.
All of the church events would not have been so bad had we not all been battling sickness after sickness in the family. Melissa, Kennedy, Kaitlyn, Chloe, and then back around again. I was about the only one who didn't get it too bad, and even I caught it a little bit. All the girls are still recovering from sinus, cough/congestion, etc. so please be praying for healing in our family. It is taking our bodies a while to adjust to Georgia.
With that said though, we are loving it here. The church has welcomed us with open arms and really joined me (Jason) on where God is taking us. It is truly an exciting time to be a part of Ray City First Baptist. I serve alongside a great pastor, a great people, and an even greater God! He is doing GREAT things here.
In addition to sickness and church events, I have also joined the Ray City Fire Department as a Firefighter and the Chaplain. I'm really excited about this opportunity and thrilled to be living out a childhood dream. The other firefighters have been great too about welcoming me aboard. (Even though I did drench one when I was learning how to work the hose! Sorry 'bout that Photo!) I'm just waiting for a call now. I've had my pager since Thursday and not one call yet! Well, I guess it's kind of bad wishing for a call to come in! :)

The Future of the Church
One of the pastors I love to listen to preach is David Platt, Senior Pastor at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. I know David from both Seminary and when we were members at Brook Hills. He is truly annointed by God and is a phenomenal communicator with a true grasp on what it means to be a disciple.

I believe that it is a message that if the church today wishes to truly do what it is supposed to do, then it needs to do the things that David outlined in this sermon.

Weekly Update
I have committed to myself that I will try to update our blog every Monday. So here is the latest.
Chloe' has an ear infection, Melissa has had the stomach virus, and Katelyn was not wanting to take her bottle for a while. Chloe' is still recovering, Melissa has recovered, and Katelyn is getting better about taking her bottle once again. So far, knocking on some wood, Kennedy and I have remained healthy.
Last Sunday, January 25 I had the opportunity to preach in the morning service. The title of my message was "The Heart of Worship" and one of the things we talked about was what worship was and was not.
Worship is not:
~ About me
~ About a set time
~ About a musical style
Worship is:
~ To Glorify God
~ Based on the Bible and centered in Jesus Christ
~ Uncomfortable
~ Commitment to a lifestyle
The main text for the sermon was Isaiah 6 while we also spent some time in John 4:1-26 and Hebrews 10:1-25.
I hope to have the audio of the sermon posted soon.
We had a great time at our Super Awesome Party last night with 35 youth and 20 or so leaders and adults. We are in the early stages of planning our calendar for the rest of the year and the youth had an opportunity to offer their feedback last night. They had some great suggestions.

Finally Getting Settled
OK, sit down and buckle in, because this might be a long post. Unless the girls require my attention. I'm sitting in their room as I type this as they are sitting up and playing with their toys in the floor. Trust me, we have quite a symphony going on! And yes, I can sit in here and type because I finally have internet at my house!
We are beginning to get settled in- still have a couple of rooms to go- the playroom and the office- but all the major stuff has been unpacked and set up. The playroom is proving to be a big benefit already.
Chloe was sick with the stomach virus this past week and Melissa had to take her to the ER last Wednesday night. She stayed sick for a few days (until Saturday night) but is now back to her normal energetic, active, very talkative self. She is really enjoying her new school and is making a lot of friends at school and church. And not just girls! One of our friends from church (and the chairman of our search committee) has twin 5 year old boys that also go to Chloe's school. She rode home with them one day when Melissa and I were at a Worship Conference. Chloe kept telling the boys (and their parents) how cute they were! She has also made a new "boyfriend" in her class and one her comments to her Momma this past week was how she just "kept getting a collection" of boyfriends! Yes, we are in for trouble!
Kennedy & Kaitlyn are doing great. Kate has not been wanting to take her bottle a lot lately, so we are changing her formula to see if that will help. They are both very inquisitive- Kate is very stubborn and independent. Kennedy is the life of the party. Right now they are playing with each other and are having more fun with the burp cloth then their toys. Hold on, let me take that away.
OK, I'm back. Our new church is going great. We miss all of our friends but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt this is exactly where God wants us. I preached this past Sunday on "The Heart of Worship." God really used the message to talk and convict among all age groups! It was really awesome being able to be behind the pulpit and proclaim the Word. I will see if I can get the audio of the sermon posted.
We're getting ready to do a huge promotion and outreach for Fireproof this month. We're doing a free date night with the movie, Bible study that Melissa and I will lead together, and a 4 part sermon series that Bro. John (the pastor) and I will tag team on. Pray for God to continue to move in a mighty way.
Our house is still for sale! But we know God has a buyer out there for us and He will bring them to us. (We had a nibble, but they weren't serious about buying.)
OK, well, I think that is an update to most everything. I'm finally beginning to get my head above water at the office and get things on a more even schedule. So, if I have been ignoring your texts, facebook posts or emails the past weeks with limited response, I should be able to and look forward to talking a lot more with all of you.
You can unbuckle now.

Moving is tough work
Wooh! We're still unpacking boxes. I didn't realize how much stuff we had. And between Wal Mart runs, finding Chloe' a new school, realizing we have a totally different address (and phone numbers- LONG story) than what we thought- I am pooped!
And no, I have NOT seen the second night of 24 and American Idol premiers tonight! Luckily, our Dish Network is installed and working great.
Don't worry, we'll let everyone know of ALL the new info- and trust me, pretty much everything has changed, but we will keep you updated.

A Whole Bunch More Reasons You Should Own a Mac!
OK, I know I'm probably blogging more today than I have altogether in the past few months. But I have nothing else to do while the movers are here. (And no, that line has nothing to do with the title of this post- just FYI.)
Anyway, for those of you not in the know, today was the keynote (or "Philnote" as Steve Jobs, President of Apple is sick from a hormone imbalance and was unable to deliver his normal "Stevenote") for MacWorld Expo 2009. It's the conference where Apple, Inc. makes most of its major product announcements. And this year's does not disappoint.

Our Moving Schedule
Here is what our week looks like for next week:
- Tuesday, January 6th- Movers arrive to pack house
- Wednesday, January 7th- Movers load truck & we leave for Ray City. We will spend the night in Atlanta, Georgia. Have you ever tried to make an 8 hour trip with two 6 month olds and a 4 year old?! It ain't happening!
- Thursday, January 8th- The Knipfam arrives in Ray City, Georgia
- Friday, January 9th or Saturday, January 10th- Our furniture arrives
- Sunday, January 11th- Jason officially begins his ministry as Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church, Ray City, Georgia
Hello Ray City!
To our friends at Ray City:
There are not enough words to express how excited we are over how God is working in our lives and in yours in bringing us to you for me to serve as Associate Pastor. We know God has been doing some great things and is going to continue to do great things in the days, weeks, and years ahead. We serve an awesome God and we are looking forward with anticipation to serving alongside of you as we reach the tri-county area and the world for Christ from Ray City, Georgia!
As we are all in the transition process over these next few weeks (we will be leaving Newton on January 7th) there are three things I need you to begin to do: 1) Pray, 2) Pray, and 3) PRAY! Seriously, unless all things are bathed in prayer they will be done in vain. Specifically, there are several items I would like for you to pray for:
• Pray for the sale of our house. As I write this letter, we are busy in the process of getting it ready for sale. We have already had one person contact us that is interested, so pray for God’s will in their lives. It would be great to sell the house without using an agent and as quick as we can.
• Pray for our movers and that we will be a witness to them. And also that all of our “things” will arrive in Georgia safely and on time.
• Pray for our mothers who are adjusting to having their grandchildren so far away.
• Pray for Chloe’ as she will be starting a new pre-school (and as we search for that school).
• Pray for the youth at First Newton as they are mourning the tragic loss of a friend and one of the top youth (Landon Burt).
• Pray for the mighty, amazing things that God is going to show all of us in the time ahead as we submit to His will and leadership and allow ourselves to be used by God in reaching others for Him! There is no better place to be!!
On a personal note, let me highly, highly encourage you to attend the screening of Fireproof on New Year’s Eve. This is a tremendous movie! Melissa and I have had the pleasure of seeing it twice. Once, in a pre-screening a month before it was released to the public, and second, when I took my youth to see it at the theatre. Although most of them are years from being married, it helped them to see what a true marriage relationship should look like, and had many of them, even a lot of the guys- committing to honoring Christ in their dating relationships and future marriage. Men, this is NOT a chick-flick! You owe it to your wife, children, and your Savior to man up and be the leader of your family in going to see this movie! I look forward to hearing many tremendous reports of how God is using this movie in the lives of our church.

We Love You Landon!
This afternoon, one of my students, but more importantly one of my friends, Landon Burt (pictured on the left), went to be home with his Lord as the result of a tragic drowning accident. Please be in prayer for Landon's family- Mary (his mom), Bryan (his dad), and David (his brother).
As we wonder "why" God brought this verse to my mind: 28And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28- emphasis mine)
Landon loved his God; He Loved his Savior; and he was called to a higher purpose. Even in this tragic, sad situation, God's name will be glorified- just as it was in Landon's life.
Rick Burgess, from the radio show Rick and Bubba, lost his young son in a drowning accident earlier this year. The clips that are posted below are from Rick's words at his son's funeral. They are a powerful, powerful reminder that we serve an awesome, mighty, all knowing, miraculous, LOVING God! Please watch these clips and do not let Landon's or Bronner's deaths be for nothing.
